Well of Wishes

By Kalissa M. Silvertail
Standing at the wishing well,
Is a little girl in blue,
She looks into the water,
And smiles at the view.

The shiny penny she tossed,
Into the water below,
Has sunk away and can't be seen,
Even with the sunlight's glow.

But there is no need of light,
When at the wishing well,
For every wish, hope and dream,
The water will always tell.

The little girl turns away,
Her cheeks marked where she cried,
But her wish has come true,
For her grandmother walks, palely, at her side.
